Toby 2019

This was Wallsend Harriers’ 12th Toby run for St Oswald’s Hospice. It was my third and it was great to see some of our newer members take on the challenge and, might I add, completely nail it!

It’s a great way to get to know fellow green and gold members more, take in spectacular views, push yourself and of course, raise money for a charity very close to our hearts.

From the words of Churchill to the sacred grounds of Churchill, together we threw, jumped and ran for our lives. Ok, a bit dramatic perhaps, but we did do it to cling fiercely onto our place in the dizzy heights of division two in the Northern Athletics Track & Field League.

Danielle’s living the dream!

Time for a huge big up to our speed Queen Danielle Hodgkinson…

In the last couple of weeks she achieved her dream of wearing an England vest and was first home for the England team at the Parelloop 10k in Brunnsum, Holland. Not only that but she ran a 10k PB of 34:13!

And if that wasn’t enough, a week later she smashed it again! Winning the Titanic 10k in Belfast (representing the North of England) and taking another 32 seconds off her 10k time.

This ranks her in the UK top 10 this year! What a woman!! We are all super proud of our girl. Massive congratulations Danielle.

Mens’ Captain End of Year Report 2018-19

The last year was my third year as men’s captain and I have to say my proudest year to date!  This isn’t just due to the performances of my teammates.  I feel over the last year we have shown tremendous strength, unity and commitment which has not only been noticed by most of our members, but by other clubs within the North East.  I literally couldn’t be prouder to be sat here as the men’s captain of Wallsend Harriers.
