I started running in April 2004 when I signed up for my first GNR to prove to myself I could do it. Since then I’ve always said I would never run a marathon. However, this year something changed. I filled in the application form, handed over a fair few euros, booked flights and a hotel and a few months later I planned to do the Amsterdam marathon. So, after 16 weeks and 518 miles to get me marathon-ready, here’s what I learned along the way.
Who’d of thought that roadworks would ever be finished early in North Tyneside? Well they are, so our first WGP race of the season is back on.
See you all on Tuesday the 17 October, at the the car park opposite the Village Hotel for 6.30pm.
Remember you have to be in #inittowinit.
Our Winter Grand Prix pages have been updated too.
Wallsend Harriers will be taking over Whitley Bay Junior Parkrun on Sunday 15th October!
It will take place at 9am next to the Rendevouz Cafe on Whitley Bay seafront (NE26 1TP). The course is 2k and open to 4-14 year-olds. Don’t forget to register for your free race barcode (if you don’t already have one) to ensure your run/time is officially registered. Visit the parkrun website if you need further information.
Everyone is welcome and it would be brilliant if we could have all of Wallsend’s youngest members, their families and friends out in force on the day.
If anyone is able to marshal, then please let Bill know, so he can advise the organisers.
Come on Wallsend Harriers!
Sun and warm temperatures, dry land, no big hills, eh? Surely this couldn’t be x-country?!
We were a small but determined team for the second in the North East Harrier League x-country series. This one closely followed Wrekenton last week. But despite being low on numbers we saw some great racing from our small green and gold band.
