The first Davison Shield was in 2008 and had just 41 female entries (fyi, Wallsend were sixth and 11th!). Eleven years on and there were 348 women and 429 men!
It was a sunny but ridiculously windy morning at Birtley Cathedral Relays. Formerly Durham Cathedral Relays, the fabulous Birtley stepped in to ensure the popular New Year event went ahead in 2019.
It was great to see some Green and Golds turn out for the North East XC Championships on December 8th.
This year we made a return to Wrekenton, which is the familiar opening venue for the XC Harrier League season. But, unlike the mild, dry and often sunny conditions of the first Harrier League fixture in September, this occasion was much more tempestuous (and as a result, tonnes of fun!)
Doesn’t x-country fly when you’re having fun?! We’re already more than half way through and going great guns…
