Why are you all running? The football’s on!
Whilst we are all coming to terms with the disappointment of an England-free World Cup Final we can at least be happy about the performances of our Green and Golds this week. It’s been action-packed…
Sunday saw a fired up team take to Hexham track and field. A very hot day did not deter everyone’s efforts, with plenty of pbs and session bests springing up. There were debuts from Alex Hemsley, Dave Diston and Mick Stringfellow. It’s great to see new faces.
Come and join us for the season finale at Darlington on Saturday August 4th. It’s going to be a belter!
Danielle, fresh from her outstanding run in the 5k at the British Champs in Birmingham, joined Jordan Middlemist and Simon Lyon to absolutely smash the 1500m at the British Milers Club regional race at Chester-le-Street. Jordan 4:05 (PB), Simon 4:17 (SB) and Danielle (PB).
Simon, Jordan, Andy Wigmore, Graham Armstrong, Danielle Hodgkinson, Alex Hemsley, Sarah Robson, Emily James and Anna French all took part in Sunderland 5k, which is also the North East Champs. Danielle brought home the gold again, storming it into first place in a course best of 16:31. Together with Alex (19:21) and Sarah (19:59) we were fourth ladies’ team (just a few points off third). Full results here. Definitely next year for a top three prize I reckon. It was an incredible field and our guys did so well. Jordan was 22nd in 15:47, Simon 17:37, Andy 19:34, Graham 19:12.
It’s a really great 5k pb course guys so I’d recommend this to anyone for next year. It would be great to see more Wallsend runners there.
We also had green and golds pop up at Bridges of the Tyne (Julie C, Simon Williams, Joe Colligan, Graham Armstrong, Paul Heatherington, Mish and Brian) and Great North 10k (Joe C and Paul H again). Well done to you all.
Keep it coming everyone! Don’t forget the Club Championships on Tuesday 17th July at Centurion Golf Club.
