Toby 2016 – 30 is the magic number!
Last year’s Toby was a record breaking year. We knew we would reach £25,000 in total money raised for St Oswald’s Hospice over the last eight years but no one could have expected that we would far exceed it. Our final total for St Oswald’s is now just over £28,000! It was a proud moment in November 2015 when the club handed over a big cheque to St Oswald’s.
This year we’re doing it all again and we’re aiming for £30,000 in total money raised over the last nine years of the Toby. It also happens to be the 30th anniversary of St Oswald’s Hospice this year so £30,000 seems like a perfect figure to aim for!
The annual Toby began nine years ago to support St Oswald’s Hospice, which has cared for the loved ones of some of our club members. The Toby involves a weekend of running and getting to know other club members who you don’t normally run with. We can guarantee there will be lots of laughs along the way and a story or two to tell when we get to the end!
This year’s Toby will be ran as six mile ‘relay’ stages along the Coast to Coast cycle route which starts in Whitehaven and finishes approximately 140 miles later in Tynemouth. The Toby will take place between Friday 19 August 2016 and Sunday 21 August 2016.
Contributions for accommodation, transport costs and some meals will be £50. We have a limited number of 16 places this year, which is on a first come, first served basis. Names will only be added to the list once you have paid your £50. The deadline for signing up is 6 May 2016. Once we have reached our limit there will be a reserve list of names.
As much as this is a fun weekend, the main reason for taking part is to raise money for St Oswald’s. So, we ask each runner to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. There will be a group justgiving page as in previous years, which makes raising and collecting sponsor money easier and quicker.
